Founded in Nashville in 2010 as an independent publishing company, Liz Rose Music was a natural next step for veteran songwriter and publisher, Liz Rose. After a string of success that included several chart-topping songs, a Grammy, an ACM, and a SESAC Songwriter of the Year award, she started Liz Rose Music with her son, Scott Ponce. In 2013, the company signed worldwide co-publishing deals with Warner/Chappell Music, Altadena, BMG, and Anthem Entertainment.

LIZ ROSE BIO:
Liz Rose is a Grammy Award-Winning songwriter, 2007 SESAC Songwriter of the Year, 2010 BMI Award winner for Songwriter of the Year, 2012 ACM Award winner for Song of the Year, 2015 Songwriter of the year at CMA Awards, founder of Liz Rose Music Publishing, and Texas Heritage Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee. Liz Rose is also on the board of directors for Country Music Association (CMA), Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), and most recently, one of the first of two songwriters inducted into the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA).

One of Rose’s first cuts was “Elisabeth” recorded by Billy Gilman. In 2003, Gary Allan took her “Songs About Rain” into the Country Top 20. She then went on to start collaborating with Taylor Swift, co-writing Taylor’s first two singles, “Tim McGraw” and “Teardrops On My Guitar”, which helped Rose win SESAC Songwriter Of The Year in 2007. She continued to collaborate with Taylor on her second album, Fearless, which included singles such as Grammy Award-Nominated for Song of the Year “You Belong With Me”, the title track “Fearless”, and Grammy Award-Winning “White Horse” for Best Country Song in 2010. 

Rose was Grammy Award-Nominated again in 2016 for Song of the Year and Best Country Song for co-writing the Little Big Town smash “Girl Crush” and won the Grammy for Best Country Song. Recent collaboration with Miranda Lambert landed Rose 5 cuts on the country superstar’s latest album, “Wildcard,” including the hit single “It All Comes Out In The Wash” which was Grammy-Nominated for Best Country Song in 2020.

Other recent hit singles co-written by Rose include Carrie Underwood’s “Cry Pretty” and “Crazy Girl” performed by Eli Young Band, which won her the 2012 ACM Award for Song of the Year. Rose has also collaborated with artists such as Tim McGraw, Dan + Shay, Alison Krauss, Blake Shelton, Lee Ann Womack, Ashley McBryde, Chris Young, Jill Johnson and many more. 

PHIL BARTON BIO:

Phil Barton moved to Nashville ten years ago from Sydney Australia.

His songs have been recorded by Country music superstars Lee Brice, Sara Evans, Eli Young Band, David Nail, Dustin Lynch, Cassadee Pope, Drake White, LoCash, High Valley, Jana Kramer, Seth Ennis, Mickey Guyton, Kristian Bush, Jay Allen, Morgan Evans, The Shires, and Bobby Bones and The Raging Idiots

He was awarded “Breakthrough Songwriter” of the year in the Music Row Awards in 2012 and had his first #1 Billboard song with the Lee Brice hit “A Woman Like You.” The song went double platinum in the US and won him a precious NSAI Award for “One of the Ten songs I Wish I’d Written” that year.

Barton has fifteen Top Ten singles to his credit in recent years on the Canadian Country Charts with Gord Bamford, Chad Brownlee, Tim Hicks, The Washboard Union, Jess Moskaluke, High Valley, Meghan Patrick, Jojo Mason, Doc Walker, and Brett Kissell.  His music has appeared in the 2016 three-time Oscar Nominated film “Sicario”, television shows like “Nashville” and video games like ‘The Sims.’

In 2016, Barton received the “Overseas Recognition Award’ from APRA in Australia for his work abroad and in 2020, he was awarded “Songwriter of the Year” at the APRA International Nashville Awards.

Over the course of his career, Barton has had over 800 songs recorded on country, children’s and pop records around the world.


EMILY SHACKELTON BIO:

Emily Shackelton is a singer/songwriter from Biwabik, Minnesota. After studying at Berklee College of Music, during which time she won the coveted BMI John Lennon Songwriting Competition, she moved to Nashville, TN. 

In 2010, she signed a publishing deal with Liz Rose Music. Since then, artists including Carly Pearce, Lauren Alaina, Reba McEntire, Cassadee Pope, Sara Evans, Jana Kramer, Mickey Guyton, David Cook, and more have released her songs. She has had several TV syncs on shows like American Idol and ABC’s Nashville

In 2018, Shackelton had her first number one hit with the critically acclaimed Every Little Thing, recorded by Big Machine Records artist Carly Pearce. That year she also received MusicRow’s Breakout Songwriter of the Year Award.

Shackelton’s new publishing venture is with Liz Rose Music, Altadena, and BMG.
